Windlyn Hold'em - Gambling Game [PLAY YOUR HAND]

Postby svetlana » Fri Oct 04, 2019 11:49 am

Windlyn's real casino game, a variation of Texas Hold'em poker! In this game, players bet their feathers, and the winner takes all.

-----

Objective:

To have the strongest hand (combination). Hands are made with the 5 randomly dealt community cards, which I post, and the 2 randomly dealt cards you receive using the code

2d12

for dice
-----

Rules:

- Anyone who wishes to play bets 20 feathers. I contribute 20 feathers to each round. A list of players and the total amount of feathers in the pool is recorded.
- You have 48 hours to join the table (place your bet). I, the dealer, will make a list of all the players for the current round.
- Once the table is full, I will post the 5 community cards. Each player enters the code 2d12 for dice to receive 2 cards. The table closes once all players have received their cards, or after 48 hours. If you placed a bet but weren't able to play your cards, your 20 feathers will be returned.
- I check to see which player has the strongest hand, and they receive all the feathers in the pool. If winning players have identical hands, the pool is divided among them.
-----

Explanations:

The numbers you roll represent the different cards you would find in a real deck.

1-10 = Cards 1-10
11 = Jack
12 = Queen
13 = King
-----

Hands:

The following hands, ranked strongest to weakest, are possible in Windlyn Hold'em:

1. Four of a Kind - Four cards of the same rank
Ex: 11, 11, 11, 11, 8

2. Full House - Three of a Kind and a Pair
Ex: 10, 10, 10, 3, 3

3. Straight - Five cards in a sequence
Ex: 9, 8, 7, 6, 5

4. Three of a Kind - Three cards of the same rank
Ex: 7, 7, 7, 12, 4

5. Two Pair - Two different pairs
Ex: 6, 6, 2, 2, 9

6. Pair - Two cards of the same rank
Ex: 12, 12, 8, 5, 11

7. High Card - The highest card in your hand
Ex: 12, 3, 5, 7, 6 - in this hand, the King (12) is the high card.
-----
- If multiple players have the same type of hand, the hand with the highest ranking cards wins.
Ex: Player 1 has a pair (10, 10, 9, 12, 6)
Player 2 has a pair (8, 8, 7, 5, 2).
Player 1 wins the round.

- If players have the same type of hand with the same ranking, the high card is used to determine the winner.
Ex 2: Player 1 has a pair (10, 10, 9, 11, 6)
Player 2 has a pair (10, 10, 7, 5, 12).
Player 2 wins the round (King is high card).
-----
* The Flush/Straight Flush/Royal Flush combinations that are found in Texas Hold'em aren't possible since we don't have a way to represent different suits of cards.
** All 5 community cards are shown and every player's cards are open.
*** There is only one round of betting: the 20 feathers you play to join the game.
****Dice roll doesn't work for numbers above 12, so some values of cards have been edited. The King (12) is now the highest card in this game. Sorry for the confusion.
-----

GOOD LUCK

I've never played Poker... but I'm game! ...so to be clear...we pay you 20 feathers and roll the dice or pay 20 and wait for you to tell us to roll? (I'm thinking you mean the latter).

I'll be happy to be the first to sign up., I'm curious to see how it works!

You should try poker sometime! There are actually many different variations. It's a good social game to play with a group of friends, especially with drinks and snacks. You would need poker chips though. Here's an example of a poker set:

I just thought this up today so I'm still working out the details.
Since it's the first try, I'll pretend like you all sent me feathers, and later I'll pay out the winner with my own feathers. In the future, I guess you'd send me the feathers when you decide you want to join and I'll add you to the table. If something doesn't work out; I'll send them back. I like the idea of actual casino games where the players bet.

I will send you the 20 feathers now, and when 5 people sign up we can start the game. Do you want us to put our hands in "spoilers" to hide them?

I will sign up. I'm hoping I do better at this version than I do with Texas Hold 'em.

These are my tests to see which dice codes will work. 5d13 doesn't work and 12 appears to be the limit.
[dice:303wygpo]0[/dice:303wygpo]
[dice:303wygpo]1[/dice:303wygpo]

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the delay! I've been very busy and haven't been able to go online for the last couple of days.

It turns out the 5d13 code doesn't work, and that 5d12 is the limit for dice. 12 is now the highest card.
You can open your hands now (roll the dice to reveal your two cards), and the best hand takes the pool of 100 feathers. Good luck!

svetlana rolled 5d12 and got a total of 31:
6, 6, 3, 9, 7

The numbers above are the community cards for Round 1

Gingerale is the winner of Round 1 with two pairs (7, 7, 6, 6) and the higher card (5)! Congratulations! I will be sending you 100 feathers.

The players use the code 2d12.
I use the code 5d12 to generate the 5 community cards.
