I'm so risk adverse it's almost hilarious. Yesterday I was yammering about injury liability and I think I provoked a conclusion that effectively becoming a hermit was a reasonable option.
Injuries happen at home too. In fact, at least according to the stats I've seen (albeit a long time ago) most injuries happen at home! This was cited by insurance studies and the stats accumulated in Emergency Rooms. So being a hermit is fraught with danger as well!
Yeah, but when other people get hurt in your rental and for some reason you don't have rental insurance, you are potentially liable for an unknown number of damages!
My youngest brother is trying to rent an apartment next year. He's in college. Lease seems okay, but he's not going to have much more freedom than the dorms and much more liability. He will have more space, so. Trade offs.
