My immediate family are celebrating the holiday on Friday due to schedules.
And we're doing a non-traditional meal (not my choice) so no turkey this year.

I've started on food for tomorrow's Thanksgiving - anyone else getting a head start?

Since I don't have anyone coming to eat, I cooked Turkey and all yesterday ^.^

Aya -no unique dishes other then the usual turkey,gravy, mashed potato's and rice. We tried doing something other then turkey once and ended up cooking a turkey a few days later. I work both sides of the holidays so it is easier to just cook on the Thursday.

Gizzie: sometimes we go to friends for dinner but usually it is just the immediate family, but it is nice to make it a big dinner for a change.

Sometimes the classics are the best route.

I prefer savory sweet potato mash, my sister has an awesome recipe. I've never had rice at a holiday meal, but I love it, along with couscous and quinoa. I work in an office and we're closed tomorrow and Friday. I will either be babysitting my 17-month-old niece and nephew (twins) or going shopping with my sister and mom.

ha,ha, I'd take the babysitting! Play some games, watch some kid shows... they generally entertain themselves and are entertaining to watch entertaining themselves.

I adore the kiddos beyond words, they are so adorable and smart and fill up my heart with love! My sister and I are really close, I spend two days a week hanging out with her and the twins. I offered to watch them, but there is a chance my dad and BIL will watch them. In that case my sister and mom could use the support, assistance, and input of me tagging along for shopping (> w<)

I hope you get some good finds! Are y ou going to shop Thursday night at all? Stores are opening Thanksgiving evening now around here.

Yes, I think we might do some shopping Thursday night and then decide from there whether anyone wants/needs to go out on Friday. I wish I had the money, I would totally get a new desktop on Black Friday sale! Mine is like 5-8 years old and I'd like a new one. Maybe next year!
