Congratulations Fiel! I didn't see you on enough to know you found so many eggs! I'm actually surprised I ended up finding so many, must have been that last week of searching!

Most of the buildings were renovated so it was more refurbished historical, but you could tell which places still had all the old fixings and designs. There was an old timey theatre there that was for lease. Really hope whoever ends up renting it keeps it the way it is.
There is another historical area farther away where the county doesn't allow too many modern changes to historical buildings. They may allow like a bathroom or kitchen to be added, so the necessities, but you can only paint it the same color it was in it's original state and it has to be paint from the time period the building was built. The county actually has a paint reserve for when buildings need a new paint job. I though that was interesting when I was visiting there.

I understand the brick and mortar or rock hewn buildings being kept up and used but sometimes it is not feasible to keep the "old" buildings as they are. They aren't safe anymore...either lead or asbestos or mold or not up to earthquake or fire standards. For well built homes I can see keeping some for nostalgia ( and I do enjoy viewing them as museums) but otherwise most I feel have outlived their purpose.

I think they do reinforce the beams and the structure, but yeah, there are modern paints that do not contain lead that they can find in the vintage colors. Using the same paint from that time period is just too strict and a little ridiculous not to mention dangerous for the owners of those shops and buildings.
