Hello, Vivianne!

Always great to see you! <3

Glad to hear you've got a routine going, but the thirst thing isn't good. I recall you're in Texas. Is it hot now where you are? Is your room/home at a good temperature and humidity level? I know both of those affect how I feel and how dehydrated I am.

Things have settled down in to lock down mode over here and it's slowly becoming the new normal. Have things settled down in your area as well? I did see that Texas was among some of the states looking to end the lock down sooner than later. I'm not sure the cities are ready for full release, but I've always thought of Texas as big state (lots of land!), so I'm sure the lock down makes even less sense in the more rural areas. :)

Hi galled!

I am trying to get moisture swabs at least hourly, which is helping the thirst quite a bit. It's high 70s here right now, which is tolerable.

I'm not sure about my county specifically, but the major metropolitan city we're a suburb of is easing lockdown more slowly.

The lockdown changed very little of my life because I'm homebound anyway. It has affected my family plenty, though.

Great to talk to you again!

Same here! We've missed you. I guess I'll check to see if you're lurking if not posting. :)

I actually like the lock down (I won't say that too loudly!) in a lot of ways, but the downsides for many folks is unsustainable and I hope we can get partway back to functionality soon. But I'm in California and our leaders tend to go overboard. :/

Anyway, I'm happy to hear you've got things on an even keel. :)

The lockdown is kind of nice for me socially, because one of my closest friends seems to have more time to talk. Without that, I don't think I could have tolerated the first couple of weeks with the tube.

That's definitely a plus!

So the tube is in 24/7, right? I suppose there's no point in flavoring anything. Are you getting enough calories every day (not losing weight)?

Are you an old hand with the new controller these days? Not sure how much you're comfortable with typing and I don't want you to feel pressured to over do things on my behalf. :)

24/7 yes. I think I'm getting enough calories. I even can't tolerate the full amount.

It's not quite set up, still. We were extremely busy, then covid happened. I don't type if I don't feel up to it, so don't worry! But thank you.

Good to hear you are feeling strong enough to type a bit, Vivianne. If we can be a distraction for you then by all means chat away!

The lock down's are affecting people in different ways. It does seem quiet when I go out, a little eerie at times, or rather unsettling?

One person I know does massage therapy for a living and she said if she is caught it is a thousand dollar fine for her. But I have heard of hair dressers going to their customers homes and cutting hair and I don't think that is allowed. But some of those professions don't qualify for unemployment insurance so what are they supposed to do?

Hi ginger!

I have heard of doctors making house calls, too. Telemedicine isn't always an option, I guess. (When I was at the hospital, I was screened, twice.)

I do hope society comes out of this with better safety nets. No one should be forced to choose between their health and their livelihood.

Also, grats on the wings! You are so lucky! You were the second in the valentine event!

It *is* kind of eerie out there if you let your imagination run a little bit. It's almost like the Zombie Apocalypse or like one of the Sci-Fi movies after a nuke hits and rag tag remnants of civilization are trying to bring things back to normal but can't... yes, I have a over-active imagination! :)

I would like to imagine things being back to normal, but with less hysteria, nastiness, and selfish stupidity instead. :)

I am also hoping that this will be a learning experience and develop awareness of how we as people need to reconsider how and what we do while we are sick or when we are around those with compromised immune systems. We all can be silent carriers of ANY disease and some viruses are a life long curse - like cold sores.

There is a reason that our parents said not to share drinks, to cover our cough, to wash up before eating etc.

I hope protocols change...like maybe visitors in a hospital should wear a mask...when you go to the Doctors there should be a separate examining room for those who have flu like symptoms and they should not be in the waiting room looking through magazines if they are feverish or contagious. I mean, there are changes that have been made even the last 20 years for infection control but what can we do to improve even more?

Should we go back to a Doctor making house calls if the whole family is sick? They can wear protective gear then. Or telecommunications or using electronic devices to monitor conditions without coming in contact with the sick person. Seriously, you go to the Doctors, they check your blood pressure, pulse and temperature ...all things that could be obtained remotely. You can even prick your finger at home and have your blood checked for glucose levels etc...why not extend that ability to checking for viruses. Has anyone checked to see if you put a phone against your chest if anyone can hear your breathing or what your lungs sound like when you cough? Would it be that difficult to adapt something to do that?

I think there are people who can figure a way to keep sick people at home but still receive treatment.

I kind of have mixed feelings about the extra paranoia. While I don't believe in knowingly infecting someone else, there needs to be some sort of balance. As humans, we're an imperfect species living in a dirty/dangerous world. If we isolate too much, we won't get the kind of tolerances (anti-bodies) needed to survive and common diseases/bugs we (as in current humans) can tolerate now, may become big problems in future generations.

It's like the studies that have shown allergies and bigger reactions to other bugs have become bigger problems/more widespread with millennials, and GenX'ers than older generations because they grew up in more cleaner (sterile) households instead of out in the fields/in the woods/in the great outdoors. I think it might be another case of the pendulum swinging too far in the opposite direction and might make things worse for everyone (think elimination of the herd immunity).
