When I was little, I helped mom all the time
Aka sat in her lap and went through the motions
In middle school we had to make a pillow
Took a sewing class in high school, made a robe (technically a kimono but eh)
Teacher said I had one of the harder patterns (lol, I think I had one of the easier) and that I chose a project too easy for me
I still have the pattern, and I want to remove the sleeves and possibly straighten the hem so I can wear it underneath

Plus I know I'm gonna have to mess around with modifications for cosplay

Aah, that sounds lovely~
Also, yay cosplay~ I just recently made my second, a more proper cosplay costume.

I made an identical one for my sister and we went to an anime festival thing together. :D Was so straaange and I wish I had done more with my appearance besides the dress. But oh well~

Yeah, people go way into cosplaying. Especially if its actually from an anime or game. I've seen some people that have real chemistry when taking photos and acting...

And it's always interesting to see how varied the quality of cosplays are.

I know! You can really tell a seasoned seamstress from an amateur. Well almost. My friends Elise costume was the best one I saw when she wore it. But I had a bit of help from a client when making some of it.

<< For example people using the cheapest satin fabrics for the whole costume even though it has nothing to do with the clothes. And, satin is one of the hardest fabrics to sew. XD

Do you have pictures of the said costume? =3

Talked to m about it, she agrees on modifying a dress for the base and then creating the rest
The 'official' cosplay you can see so many shortcuts (the thingies on her sleeves are supposed to curve and they're straight. Tiered, too, but one piece. Skirt is a nodded hakama, cosplay cheaps out by pleating)
Plus it prolly wouldn't fit so I just need to make it

Kitalpha, that's good news! All that you've mentioned sounds so interesting. Please do share progress pictures or at least the finished piece :D

Ryvvi, since our fabric selection is quite limited where I live, I didn't attempt any specific characters yet. So these are just some generic maids like in maid cafe-s and stuff. :)

Oh, that is one cool outfit! Are you making the armor bits too? :)

Ryvvi, Thank you~ I will eventually make some real cosplay outfits, but only if I don't have a million uni papers to work on at the time :D Which is in 4 months!
<< I should make them based on a typical figure so that I can sell them later or something. It's really expensive to buy good fabric!

Not as armor, gonna cost too much
I can prolly get a similar effect with yarn, which is way more affordable

I've seen people use some sort of scale like beads in knitting to make scale-mail armor. Let me see if I can find it. Here it is
I imagine if you use aluminum cans and make sure the edges are not sharp, you could make any shapes you need. :)

Her vest isn't scale mail, and my mom is a raw beginner with knitting, so scales would be near impossible
I can neither knit or crotchet

I think that's the official art for her, because of all the details shown
Too bad I don't know Japanese tho
