I sew. Started in elementary school when my dad taught me. I've been doing it by hand, should really fix my machine. Though I mostly make cosplays I did sew clothes for a couple puppets once.

I don't mean to impress you guys, but I can most definitely sew a button back on.

My mom used to make beautiful quilts, but she's sort of lost the motivation for it. I made quilt squares when I was in 4th grade, learned how to repair buttons in 7th, and how to embroider in 8th!

I'm wanting to learn how to make skirts. I'll probably pick up the hobby this summer when I have more time.

I used to be REALLY into embroidery after I learned in school, but I love my embroidery thread so much that I can't use it. It's too pretty and nothing is good enough to justify using it (also, for a long time it disappeared from the stores in my area and when i did find it, it was expensive x.x). So, it just sits in my box and I pull it out and stare at it from time to time. >.>

If you are talking to me, please ping or quote me. I get distracted and lose track of what I'm doing easily.

I've only learned a bit when I started making plushies. I've only completed two and stuff.

I had to stop because I need to get a job so I can buy the things I need.

I love sewing and learned from my mother
but I haven't made anything yet due to I do not have a sewing machine yet but I plan to
once I get a sewing machine.

But I did fix up a ripped pillow of mine several years ago and it hasn't ripped since and it has
been tossed around like crazy. XD

@Mousy
Sorry to hear it's so expensive and hard to find around where you live. Hopefully you can find it at a reasonable price somewhere else.

i think a sewing machine is a good investment, especially if you like to make costumes for cosplay.

I know what you mean about embroidery thread being too pretty to use. There are so many rich colors.

I used to hand sew a lot, I'd make plushies for my friends. I once made a jumper for a friend's cosplay. That was...let's just say I'd never have the patience to hand sew another jumper again!

I'd love to start using a sewing machine, but my mother doesn't want me to touch hers (with good reason, I'd probably break it!) and I can't be bothered to buy my own. I've no room to put it.

I want a sewing machine like that the school had. Nice control unlike our current one we have where it's absurdly fast and even faster and wtf fast

I have a sewing machine now.... i thought that it would make repairing my jeans alot easier... yet here i am, hand sewing them! i realized that id never be able to sew them up the way i bought them and they would probably fall apart so im not going to bother tearing the thread.... i will just hand sew them and hope they stay together for a good long while lol.

If you get the same color thread you should be able to go over the old thread, using it as a guide line...but hand sewing can work too, just takes longer

Re: Sewing

Postby Mika » Tue Mar 17, 2015 3:34 am

Well its not that.... The jeans I wear have like three different sewing lines if thread.... Its got the first minor thread, then its got this weird stitching on the ends which I have no idea how to do... I'm not sure if my sewing machine can make that kind of stitch, and then it has a final stitch which would be too much of an issue I don't think. Its the second stitch that would get me... Plus where my pants wear down at, its no logical way to patch them up with a sewing machine... Cause I can't pull my pants apart to even fix it... So hand sewing just seems best.
