You'll have to show us your creations, Mouse.

I used to cross stitch all the time. It's something I want to get back into.

I can find sewing patterns on sale or even make my own pattern, its the cost of material that seems to make it more expensive to make then to buy.

..and there isn't always a very good choice in the local fabric stores and who knows what you are going to get ordering online since you can't feel the weight and texture of it! That's where living in a bigger city might be nice.

I took a fashion class in high school and sewed quite a few things including: a drawstring backpack, formal fitted long sleeve button down shirt with collar and cuffs, a formal long skirt with slit at the bottom in and a zipper in the back (got an honorable mention award for during an art showcase), several Christmas stockings, a fleece body pillow, pajama shorts, 2 recycled clothing projects (a jacket made from a t-shirt and a no sleeve shirt with sides cut and tied down made from a long sleeve shirt) and an off the shoulder baby-doll style see-through pink shirt with flower print.

I own a limited-edition Brothers Project Runway sewing machine.

That's an awesome machine for the money. It's not cheap, but it's not crazy expensive like most of the killer machines. Do you have any of the accessories for it like the surger?

i don't have the surger but i do have a lot of fancy stitches on the machine xD

I got it 6-7 years ago during tax return time and it was on a big sale at the time. I paid $60 USD for it and the originally price was close to $150 USD.

I just wanted to share that I finally did some sewing! Been meaning to for ages work on something other than patching socks. I made one hemmed strap for an apron yesterday. Took me a bit but was worth it. Now I wanna do another one today, and I'll have half of 'em made if I do!

Great work, Lilly!

This thread reminded me that I have 'handkerchief skirt' and 'scarf' on my DIY list. Time to add fabric-hunting to my to-do!

I'm currently using my machine, although I've had an easier time sewing by hand, haha. It just takes so much longer, even adding in redoing the machine stitching cuz I mess up my tension so the bobbin thread gets tangled then jamming happens. Siiigh.

Thanks silverberry! Ohh, a handkerchief skirt sounds so fun! I was originally gonna do a patchwork apron but... Woof. I am bad at remembering to stitch and hem the squares. I also should probably cut them to the same size vs trying to piece them. But I may still piece them... I'd love to hear or see your fabric haul!
