The Oddly Specific Thread About Gravity Falls Journals(LOOK)

I am inspired..... to make my own version of the journals in Gravity Falls.

Do it in a similar format for the content on the pages, but not about strange things, just put what I would in a diary but in a format similar to the way Ford made the journals.

Of course, I have to get supplies, I plan to make 3 volumes of it, but I don't want to just make one and call it number 3, because what's the use of #3 if I don't have the first two? So, I'll make #1 first then #2 and finally #3.

The only challenge is finding the same or a similar journal to match. But I'm not going to make them all at once.

I went to Michaels and found a hardback black sketchbook that is a pretty good size. I bought red paint to make it red, but if the paint doesn't turn out, I bought red cardstock to glue on the cover.

The hardest thing to find was the looking glass thing that hangs out of the book. I couldn't find one at Michaels so I went to Hobby Lobby and found a locket that can double as that looking glass things. It was the closest I could find. But, yeah, the journal is perfect.

About $40 spent on all supplies for book #1. This is why I am only doing one book at a time, lol.

If I did all 3, that's about $120.

The book was originally black. That's 3 layers of red paint.

Wooo, great job! Maybe spruce the corner up with a hint of gold?
I know it doesn't look like that in the show, I've watched it, but it's merely a small suggestion. :3

I added gold beads to try to match those little rivet thingy on the corners of the journals in the show. It might also look nice putting a little bit of gold trimming around the whole journal.

While I probably won't add the gold trimming because I don't really want to ruin them more than they had now (the things I used are getting terribly worn), here's a link to pics of journals 1 and 2 to their completion:
