I had to read The Scarlet Letter in AP English. So boring. I dropped the class.

Lemon Cheesecake"
I wish it were a children's book! I looooove children's and YA books. No.. this book is a teacher book.
it's this one and it's companion book

My team was lucky enough to be given the toughest group of children in the school. No, I'm not exaggerating. My principals have spoken to my team multiple times over how they don't know how it happened and that we have a really unique situation. I had a behavior specialist come in and observe my students and she gave me those books to read. I just need to read them. XD

bassy, I always remember the scarlet letter as being quite emotionally tragic, but maybe one of those books where the movie might be better? I'd have to re-read it since it has been a long time. You have to remind yorself of what society was like for her to appreciate all she had to endure.

Mousy - glad to hear you are able to bring in outside help. Those children are very fortunate that you and your team care. I hope you will be the difference in their lives.

Lemon
It may be the reading style of the author. I didn't know what was going on when I started reading it. It's been a while I have no idea about anything of the book.

hmm, If I recall I think the writing style of the author may have left something to be desired but the subject matter made you take a closer look at society, what is imposed on us and how we respond to that and what we do "for love". But I have heard of others who did not like the book either.

People have different tastes in books.

I can't get passed the first 5 pages of Divergent, but I love reading the Hunger Games.

Sometimes it's the writing style, sometimes it's the storyline, but sometimes it's both.

but I do love when I find a book that I can't put down and just have to keep reading to get to the end...

sometimes I like to read the end of the book to see if I want to read it all the way through or not.

Why would you want to know the future? It ruins the suspense!

helps me project where i want to go.... but a book is like a time machine, where as an observer i can travel to the past or the future

But once you know what happens, you wouldn't want to bother reading it! D:

I had no idea what was going to happen when I first read Divergent. And you know what? I cried. I am thinking about reading the whole series again. Allegiant had so much going on, I need to re read it

I like classic books. Especially Russian classics.

Read "A Hero of Our Time" by Lermontov and "The Master and Margarita" by Bulgakov

Bassy
Did you read The Pledge yet? I just finished the trilogy and I liked it alright. Not something I would reread, but it's also not something that I felt was a waste of my time.

With my limited internet access currently, I've been reading like a mad woman! Speaking of mad women, I LOOOOVED The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd. I read the next book in line, but I found out there is a 3rd that my library doesn't have yet. T_T
I'm currently in the middle of the sequel to Ms. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I'm really enjoying this one. As soon as I was done with the 1st, I downloaded the 2nd.

My public library has an app where you can dl books for 14 days at a time. I currently have 1984, A Great and Terrible Beauty, and Hollow Cities (Peregrine #2) on my phone. This is a perfect solution for me because we can only check out 10 books at a time from the library and I would devour all 10 before I could go to the library again. I love this because if I finish a book at 8pm, I can just go to the app and dl a new one. It's also getting my husband into reading, which I LOVE. He's not a big reader, but they have plenty of audio books. He just finished Killing Patton by O'Reilly and now he's moving onto Killing Kennedy. It's definitely worth seeing if your library has that option for you.
