Playing with Poetry

Postby Lemon Cheesecake » Sat Apr 30, 2016 11:47 pm

Just a thread to throw out poetry that I may think of...you can join in too if you like.

My perception of what poetry is, is either an expression of emotion, a descriptive narrative or a telling of a tale.

[+] SPOILER
My mind sees
What my eyes show them
but my heart refuses to believe.

One moment seen,
One moment not.
One blink of the eye,
gone.

Peripheral vision
allows us awareness in the shadows of our situation.
Tunnel vision
focuses only on what is ahead,
challenging our perception.
Blindness,
sight eludes us,
revealing nothing.

What the eye can not see clearly,
the mind can not know fully,
only the heart is left to perceive.

But what is the mind?
What is seeing?
Can we truly see what our mind is not aware of?
How do we know?
If what we see is real?
Is just believing enough?

What do our senses tell us?
Is it the truth?
How do we know we see reality?
When we are in darkness,
Do we really see?
Do we know if we see in clarity?

Believing is seeing,
And yet we do not see it with our eyes.
So what can we call sight?
How can we see in extremes?
The brightest day?
Or the darkest night?

No problem!
I thought I'd do a poem as a reply to yours!

Speaking of which... I just had an idea... A game thread with poetry, it can be your own, or one you found online or whatever... But... It has to have a similar theme to the last poem, or to a part of the last poem... So, kind of like what I did with my poem in reply to yours, except it doesn't have to be as similar as that... Kind of like the what's the first word that comes to mind thread, where it's a poem that has similar themes...
What do you think?

The Owl Hopes

There,
High Above.
Ever Perceptive,

Only resting
While it waits.
Listening.

Hovering in flight,
One swift swoop -
Perched talons ready,
Ever diligent.
Successful.

Kind of like your music game thread? Probably will work but sometimes it takes awhile for some of us to get our creativity going.

Watching over us as we rest,
The stars,
Always shine their best.

With their lights aglow,
With the moon,
They watch as we grow.

Like gentle eyes in the air,
Watching us well,
Whilst we are unaware.

Yeah! Kind of like that! The problem is, as you said, people have to really think for it.

The dark holds light.

Shining through the night,
bright sparkles of light
hidden from sight
in the day
behind the suns ray.

Billions of light,
captured in the night,
by the camera's piercing sight,
yet still remain hidden in the day
by the sun's ray.

Shine like the brightest star,
Walk the path of starlight,
Each person, a glittering light to guide your way.

With others, you'll go far,
If you walk the path of starlight,
Accept help, and give help today.

Become a star for others to see,
Walk the path of starlight,
Shine brighter than any star has shone.

Help them become what they want to be,
Walk the path of starlight,
For life is a journey you can't do alone.
