Lemon, what do you mean, when the pound is available? You cannot trade pets, but I've been abandoning and adopting pets already just fine. Or does it not work for snomes?

Of course you can!

Lemon: You can only adopt pets that other people (or yourself) abandoned. Both abandoning and adopting a pet costs 100 feathers though.

I checked at the pound and there was nothing there right now.

yup, cos noone's abandoned their pets.

There were three pets there when the pet system was released, two of them were fish eggs and adopted by me and the third was a grown up petrock abandoned by me and picked up by some other person shortly after. I haven't seen any abandoned pets there since. Probably cause it's expensive. xD;
