Galled, there are a few background pieces that are totally flat still and I am working on adding more detail to the shading. A friend pointed out the girls head had much more attention to detail, so I'm going over everything I've thought I finished too.

Really? A lot of people do that though, I quite like simple backgrounds with more complex faces, I guess it depends on your style anyways. C: My only advice is to make the shading on the lighter areas of her dress and socks a little more obvious because it's hard to see.

Ah, I see, but it doesn't bother me at all. I like art that guides the viewer to focus on what the artists wishes them to focus on to achieve their goal/concept. So having more detail on the character vs. background makes total sense to me.
