And yes, there is a difference between mythical Pokemon and Legendary Pokemon. Legendaries are the ones on the covers of the games, and a few others, the mythical ones are the mini legendaries. Like Keldeo, Meloetta, Mew, etc.

So mythical pokemon - those of myths, while legendary pokemon are more of the pokemon of folklore that somehow helped to create the world?

Yeah, pretty much. Or are responsible for certain things.
It gets confusing though, since there are legendaries that aren't on the cover of games, like the three Sacred Swords, the three Legendary Birds, the three Lake Legendaries/whatever they're called, the three Weather Legendaries/whatever they're called, Mewtwo, Deoxys, etc.
But often, it seems that legendaries are larger than mythicals. Though I think that's just a coincidence, since there are some small legendaries as well.
Another thing worth mentioning is that; games come out in groups of two, and in each, you can usually get half of the existing legendaries, other than Arceus, I believe. The other version gets the other half. But you usually can't get any mythical sin the game, except through events or trading. So that's another way to tell them apart.

I still don't feel like there is any difference. And I didn't start hearing the term "Mythical" until recently and I've been playing the games for awhile. Not entirely sure when "Mythical" started being used.

The purple halloween skin and the purple werewolf hair. The skin is sort of optional though since it's so hard to get. I can still make a nice looking Gengar without it.
I've seen people selling the hair and was thinking of dropping by those shops to see if I can snag one. I've saved up a few feathers.

The purple skin will be a tough one. Try Monkeygirl18 or Akuyi or Mousy. I only have one spare so that would have to be for a rare prize. There is the potential though to have colored skins appear for Halloween next month.
