I haven't seen much of Trek, but I've heard it's good.

Now, in terms of scifi shows, I'm more of a Doctor Who fan

If you like SciFi then watch "The Expanse" series. Apparently they were a set of books as well?

I've watched it several times now & pick up something different each viewing.

"The Expanse" is giving huge tragedy and sad plot vibe

I'll second The Expanse as a great sci-fi show. The plot is ever evolving--as with all great drama there are points of sadness, hopelessness etc., but where bad drama fails The Expanse is able to insert highs of overcoming every obstacle that seemed hopeless earlier in the story. It's an all-around excellent show. Watch the first couple of episodes and see if you like it.

Tbh I'm always afraid to watch show that give off 'sad vibe' or those sad feeling. But it's different if there's hope in the end.

Yes there's hope and success, but of course a new challenge comes and then cliffhanger--until the next episode or season!
