Websites stuck in the 90's

Postby MonkeyGirl18 » Fri Feb 05, 2016 12:28 pm

I started looking up websites that are stuck in the 90's that pretty much are abandoned but you still can visit.

One such site is here: http://toastytech.com/evil/ieerrors.html and it's so hilarious. xD

I didn't either, lemon, but then again, I was born in '95 and was 5 in the year 2000, which was when I was in kindergarten, lol.

Back then, the web only existed via modem or if you were very lucky ISDN. Think Compuserve, AOL, Prodigy... stones and bearskins...

a lot of progress has been made in a short time, when you think about it what we can do now versus what was available in the 90's

I only had dial up in the 90's, growing up in Northern Canada.

wasn't dial up all that was available for most of the 90's - regardless of where you lived?

Did you live in the northwest Territories at all, before the name was changed?

No Northern Alberta but the terrain is roughly the same as most of the territories, we got radio internet out there around 2008 or so, but ya most of the 90's was dial up.

The place I grew up still only has that radio internet since it's too far out for a line to be brought to it.

So many errors on that site :p

My family got internet access in the mid 90's. My friend's would get mad at me because I'd be on the internet and tie up the phone line so their call wouldn't go through. Everything loaded so slowly.

I was allowed on when my dad was at work, though there were times my mom wouldn't let me on. My brother didn't have much interest in the early days of the internet. My senior year of high school ,or the year following, I got my own desk and computer.

Old good times of the Internet. You got really stressed if you noticed lots of picture boxes appearing on the site and all of them ate your money slice by slice as they appeared ever so slowly...

There are some people who still think that all websites should stop using CSS and JavaScript and other useless fancy stuff. They want just black and white documents where the logical structure is perfect. You want to add a background colour? You should be ashamed of yourself, mister.

You reminded me of this guy (a bit profane) but he believes that websites should use less decorations. haha
