yuurei set

A word:
Yuurei is the term commonly used to refer to a specific type of Japanese ghost depiction that arised from the myth that an unrestful spirit will linger if there is no proper ceremony held to honour their death and purify their souls. (This is honestly weird to say in English but if you've ever heard of the Ghost Festival, it's expected to honour our deceased ancestors and bring food for them every year.) Though in ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints), Yuurei are more or less depicted with white robes and (sometimes) the hitaikakushi hat. They were most prominent in paintings and theatre during the 17th century but a lot of modern references to them remain.

I purposely drew the robes to be folded from right over the left to signify the dead. So unless the wearer is deceased, please wear your yukata/kimonos left over right! Most traditional robes (if not all) in East Asia have this in common so it's worth nothing that for your travels. Thought I should point out as the site's HTML does flip the avatars in the forums. I also added a bunch of other colours just in case someone would like to flip the avatar to for an original character reference. Most of these colours are shades commonly seen in East Asian clothing. I also included a Prussian one because it was a highly used imported pigment in Ukiyo-e~ The Great Wave Off Kanagawa is one of those examples, and it made a lasting impression on literally every print created after it was imported to Japan.

TLDR: I remember watching Noragami in middle school and the character design of Nora stuck with me ever since. Now I can't escape from Japanese folklore imagery xD it's so diverse so if anyone is curious, I welcome you all to learn more!
