bassy;
the difference is people are calling trump a fascist, but he isn't actually one. the issues he is concerned about are similar, but his solution is different. he advocates giving power back to individuals, not taking it away. he wants to reduce government regulations, not add to them. sanders however advocates for socialist policies.

socialism is actually closer to fascism than you might think. (it's the first step towards communism) how do you take back the means of production if not forcefully? how do you regulate the market if not forcefully? socialism requires more government oversight and control.

with free market capitalism the market is determined by the buyers. what they need, what they want, what they are willing to pay for. competition drives prices down and quality up. with socialism the government decides what will be produced and what price it will be sold at. it takes away competition and incentive to innovate. the main argument for socialism is that the gap between rich and poor is unfair, but what they don't like to address is the fact that under capitalism, the poor are much better off. margaret thatcher addressed this in one of her speeches, "so long as the gap is smaller, they'd rather have the poor poorer".

here's a clip from margaret thatcher on socialism:

If you think Trump is a "racist, bigot, misogynist, [insert other buzzwords]" you've been completely deceived by the media. I'm extremely glad he won. When you call people all those buzzwords for no reason at all and have to take it without fighting back they pull the Trump lever, now you see people pathetically "crying" and acting like its the end of the world, feminists literally taking a shit on Trumps signs, people beating up Trump supporters.

I can't still handle the irony of all this, people suggested that if Trump won he'd start a race war, and guess who did it? People also had 100% guaranteed that Hillary was gonna be and that "No matter the outcome, we should accept the outcome of this election" and then guess who proceeded to go ape shit on the streets and start a riot? (Not a protest)

The moral of "The boy who cried wolf" applies in this situation.

These are the people why Trump won.

It's almost as if you endlessly call people racists and bigots they'll eventually get fed up and turn on you. Well deserved on those people.

I may have miss worded what I was saying since I was watching about the protest and signs saying he was a fascist. That was what was going through my head while i was typing that. I do do my research on things as well. I do see why people think he links to Hitler, (my coworker told me his speeches were similar to Hitlers, but I can't really say if it is true or not because I have no idea what Hitler said.) People called him that because of his behavior; thinking he is a narcissist wanting power. But we really don't know how his presidency will actually turn out because he can't make laws. Whatever ideas he has, has to go through Congress to make sure it can be fair, at least to most people to all people.

I must say I blame the media for being bias and not impartial. What happened to just reporting the facts? If I want an editorial then I will read that - they should be scolded. What ever happened to good journalism? Actual reporting?

It's not just journalists. Think of the CEO's, bankers, politicians, etc., that all have strayed from the values and ideals we perhaps naively believe people in these positions should possess.

People said Obama was Hitler-ish too. I remember watching a history channel special in 2008 about speeches over history and how the reason that Obama's and Hitler's speeches were so wildly successful in rallying people were because they were similar. Not just in subject, but in the way they were delivered, tone, cadence, etc.

Buttttt I'm sure every election since the late 1940's has had a "Hitler." It's a good shock factor term.

Yep, just like every internet flame war degrades into calling someone a nazi and/or Hitler. They called Reagan Hitler too. I can't blame the younger voters as much (since they didn't live/see it before), but for the older politicians it's just irresponsible.

I don't know how Obama was Hitlerish. It's just now a term where if we have a bad president, they're Hitler like.

People keep using words & phrases over and over again that they just lose their value "x is like Hitler" yeah of course, call everyone with a different point of view one of the worst beings in history. None of those politicians, including Trump are remotely close to Hitler.

But the Philipine President was the only one who apparently compared himself to Hitler, and then it seemed like the media jumped on it referring to Trump.

"Speaking at a press conference in his hometown of Davao, where, as mayor, he honed his ruthless approach to crime fighting, Duterte said, "If Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have...," and then he pointed at himself."
https://news.vice.com/article/philippin ... illed-jews

The scariest thing about Hitler is that everyone went along with him. If he wasn't given power his view points would have not had the result they did.If his advisers had advocated against war and against human atrocities and kept him in line then I believe things would have been different.

But you know, history has had its share of frightening leaders/rulers/kings.

Ugh, don't even get me started on Duterte. It's one thing to be a voice of the people and go against Philippine govt's corrupt politics & politicians, but it's another thing to straight up start murdering people on the streets. One thing that my parents & relatives have always told me - I admit it does make sense - is that a filipino Trump [Duterte] is good for the Philippines, but not so much for the U.S.

Duterte did, however, wish health and luck to President-elect Trump. He also said that they were alike in that they both tend to curse more than they reason.
