Oh !! I really would love to see the terra cotta army! I've watched shows on it and they focused up close...they were made with amazing detail and the colors on some of them are incredible! And they go on for like forever!!

Speaking of the terracotta army. They had some on display at a museum in Liverpool, England, last year. I got to go see them. Here's a few pictures I was able to take. They had other artefacts from the excavation. I'll share those pictures later.

The terra cotta soldiers each have a different expression ...they had to have had "models" for making them! what a glimpse into a long forgotten time...the history preserved...the ornate details!

I'll have to search to see if they ever tour North America.

They must have had for all of them to look different. It was really great to see artefacts from Asia. To have the army made for a leaders burial. It's amazing.

I hope you get to see them one day, Lemon. I'm not sure how often they lend some of them out internationally. I know the Liverpool one was advertised as "the first time in 30 years that a terracotta army exhibit has been on outside London."

Wow! I did not realize that they even did their livestock! Horses yes but even pigs and chickens! It is impressive to look at now even when everything is faded ...can you imagine what a sight it would have been when it was first done and all the colors were vibrant???

The architect who designed it all and the artists who made each statue were so talented!

The great Wall of China ,长城 chang cheng, was part meant to keep Han Chinese people from migration to Manchuria. It originally was built for defense tho.

It's also not visible from space. Don't understand why that's a myth even.

Western World is kind of boring....China is 1000's and 1000's of years old ...even European countries are 1000's of years old and North America culture is only hundreds!

Mind you the history of the first nation's people is interesting but most did not maintain a written record of their history...although some cave drawings have been found that show tribal communities have been around longer then we realized.

Well British history is very long lol.

Our most interesting archaeological discovery was the ship burial at Sutton Hoo in my opinion. During the early 7th century, in southern England, a king (presumed to be Rædwald King of the kingdom of East Anglia) was buried with his 80 feet (approx 24 metres)long ship. The actual ship itself hasn't survived but it left a huge imprint on the ground - as can be seen in the spoiler section. They found fragments of a helmet too (again image below).
