I looked up at the sky with my binoculars & was thrilled to see so many stars I couldn't see with my eyes unaided.

You should get a pair! You can also get monocular's which is just one eye to view through but easier to carry around.... that way you can do neighborhood watch or look at the wildlife if you are out on a hike or camping.

I just don't have much luck seeing meteors ... maybe I don't look for long enough or too much light pollution from the city lights?

I checked out Space.com for celestial happenings: TONIGHT:
"The moon will meet up with Saturn, the solar system's second-largest planet, on Sunday (Dec. 17) when the two celestial bodies make a close approach. "

It was too cloudy for me, the moon managed to break through the clouds on & off but no chance of seeing any stars in the sky... and of course today it rained.
