"Stargazers will be treated to a heavenly triple-header on Tuesday. This month’s harvest moon will be coinciding with a supermoon, a blood moon and a partial lunar eclipse."

https://nypost.com/2024/09/16/lifestyle ... -trifecta/
"According to NASA, the eclipse will peak just over two hours later at 10:44 p.m. EDT, whereupon just eight percent of the moon will be shrouded in shadow."

Wowzers

For about 3-4 days last week, the moon was orange, and slowly got yellower until it was white again

Apparently our moon is getting a mini moon for a couple months...unfortunately we won't be able to see it, even with binoculars.

https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3 ... 172/ad781f

"the recently discovered small body 2024 PT5 follows a horseshoe path and it will become a mini-moon in 2024, from September 29 until November 25."

I wish I lived close to somewhere/someone that had a powerful telescope to see the asteroid.

I kind of feel better not knowing how many space objects that could end everything near miss us. There are so many! It's continuously happening. On the cosmic scale we're really teetering on the edge and always have been.
