Music Discussion Thread

Postby dragoness129 » Mon Feb 20, 2017 7:42 am

There could be so many individual threads for different music, so I made one thread to discuss it all!
Feel free to share some of your favorite songs, artists, genres.
Find a good song recently? Share it!
Have a great music app? Tell us about it!

Rants and Raves are welcome because everyone is entitled to their opinions. Just no flaming each other for their likes or dislikes. Use your best judgment and follow all rules.

(Let's try to keep this thread active with all kinds of great music shares!)

Me? I love using Spotify for music since it does not draw as much Wifi connection as Youtube does. Yes, there are no video accompaniment, but I am usually just listening to the music itself.

Most recently, I have been loving Parody songs and Dubstep.
For Parody: check out Chris Villain, Shane Blair, Not Literally, Paint (aka Jon Cozart). Check them on YouTube because they are not all on Spotify.
For Dubstep: check Different Heaven (Pentakill is one of my favorites. I am looking for more similar to that sound.)
For League of Legends Parody: I love Falconshield, Plentakill, Instalok and The League of Legends Community for the Champ Mix songs.
Other great artists: Lindsey Stirling and Peter Hollens

Favorite Artist: Disturbed
I love listening to a wide range of music. Rock is some of my favorite.
I really cannot stand rap music that is only talking really fast to a beat. Gotta be singing in it and a better beat for me to like it.

Dad's been using iHeartRadio

Music streaming is gonna use less than video streaming cuz just sound requires less than sound and image

I range from AC/DC to Holly Dolly to Blue Man Group to T.M.Revolution to Lady Gaga to Trans-Siberian Orchestra to video game/movie soundtracks and remixes for my music preference, so it's kinda hard to pick a top favorite

I've found myself listening to more and more kpop, though it's more or less the same as what I would normally listen to (plus some R&B because I gotta stay hip with the "cool crowd").

Two songs (that are very very different from each other) that I've fallen in love with are:
Pour Up by Dean
Back 2 U (AM 01:27) by NCT 127

I've also found myself listening and adding to my "Pissed" playlist (for when I'm angry and need to express my stress through songs OR just pumped-up work out music). One of the artists I've recently heard is The Pretty Reckless. Gotta say that I love their song Heaven Knows!

Anyone hear of throat singing? Strange but interesting.

Here is the first song I herd. I mean... heard.

YouTube Video

Can you believe how people can do weird things so make sounds like that?

I've heard of what it was called, but it sounds a lot like what the Tibetan monks and aborigines and africans do. Actually, now that I think about it, a lot of cultures had something similar "guttural" music. I guess it was all kind of lost as the centuries rolled by. That guy Bobby McFerrin's (the "Don't Worry Be happy" guy) work is almost a modern take of this (he can whistle while humming the bass riff at the same time although the video doesn't show him doing it). Interesting!

I had a kid in middle school who could whistle and hum. I was always curious so how he did it. So I tried it and I did it once. I was proud of myself lol. I wish I could do it again.
