Shark Week is an annual, week-long TV programming block created by Tom Golden at the Discovery Channel, which features shark-based programming. Shark Week originally premiered on July 17, 1988.

In Phelps Vs Shark, scientists determined the top swimming speed of a great white, and then showed Phelps swimming against a CGI shark based on that data. Phelps lost the race by two seconds. The CGI shark clocked in at 36.1 seconds and Phelps at 38.1.

I've stopped watching Discovery Channel for a couple years but I love sharks |D shark finning is still a thing here though, makes me really mad that people would kill them for... 5% of their meat.

I tried eating shark fin soup long time ago - before I knew that they didn't use the whole animal - and I can't say I was impressed by it.

Also shark week isn't a thing here. But I appreciate a week for a specific animal. There should be all kinds of animal weeks. Except cats, they deserve a whole year.
