What's Victober?

One of my favourite things is dreams.

Books tend to be better than movie versions. I have yet to see a movie be better.

Victober is "Victorian October". It started out as an online readathon of Victorian literature over on YouTube. I made a thread for the Windlyn version where watching TV shows and movies are included. Feel free to join us if you want:

One movie adaptation i liked sliiiightly better than the book because they decided to take out a stupid argument between the characters that didn't sit well with me or any of my friends that also read the book. Just my opinion, but i still enjoyed the books other than that one part

Not at all! So Victorian literature is any form of fiction published during the years 1837 - 1901. Famous works and authors include:

Oscar Wilde (mainly wrote plays but wrote one novel "The Picture of Dorian Grey")
Charles Dickens (A Christmas Carol, Great Expectations, Oliver Twist - to name a few)
The Brontë Sisters (Anne - The Tennant of Wildfell Hall, Charlotte - Jane Eyre, Emily - Wuthering Heights)
George Eliot, also known as Mary Ann Evans (Middlemarch)
Robert Louis Stevenson (Treasure Island, The Strange Case of Dr Jykell and Mr Hyde)
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (His early Sherlock Holmes stories)

I've been doing the movie's or series instead of reading (unless it is subtitled).

Am watching " Man from Snowy River" series set in Australia in the 1800's. The series is old but I came across it when I was looking up what to watch for that time period. I loved the First Man From Snowy River movie, the scenery and horsemanship in the movie is outstanding.

You know, I've never seen or read a Victorian story set in Australia. It's only vaguely mentioned when people get transported there. That's another story to check out.

The Man from snowy river poem was written in 1890.

The 1800's is when a lot of immigration took place. Looking at my family history,my Dad's great grandfather's siblings split, some immigrating to Australia, US and Canada.

Me too, what was your most memorable one so far?

May I ask, how were y'all able to watch those movies? Do you need to pay for them or is there a website that I can use for free? :0

Another one would be coming across light, wholesome moments. Whether reading them or watching, as long as everyone feels warm and happy makes me happy.

Libraries have free movies and you can get past series from there but I was watching Amazon prime... try searching a show online and see if they have a free download?
