My favourite current anime is Castlevannia. You don't need to be familiar with the game series to watch it. It's brilliant.

An all time favourite is Nana. I've watched it at least 4 times. I hope the manga series gets completed one day.

There's little Easter eggs but it doesn't impact the story.

Nana is completely different to Castlevannia. It's about two girls called Nana that meet on a train to Tokyo, they eventually become room mates. Nana O wants to be a famous punk rock singer, the other Nana is a bit boy obsessed. I love the music in it.
