I think clicking the banner should take you to the page to pick either pink team or purple team. Look through forums to see if anyone has an orange button near their name and click it to help the person. You both get gems that can be used to claim prizes. 1075 gems are needed to get 1 of each item and have a gem left over. you can equip the gem as well. It can be found in foreground2 of closet.

Right now just 2 as each cost 5 points and the max is 10 pts unless you figure out what event item combinations can raise the limit higher
