OK! I re-watched COHERANCE last night!
After watching I came away with the same thought--t's more about the ride than the destination. Personally I hate movies and shows that are too open-ended or worse, a non-ending that seems thrown in because they needed to end somehow (the TV show LOST threw me over the edge).
While watching, I had totally forgotten about the ketamine bit up front. I suppose that is an explanation for what goes on. It was indeed engaging and it allowed me to overlook the lighting and camerawork issues, but for an indie it's very good. I enjoyed reminiscing, but it's probably not one that'll have on my re-watch list.
Which makes me think, another show that deals with time travel is FOUNDATION--based on Isaac Azimov's (1920–1992) stories. It's a really interesting show due to ideas behind it all (crazy that someone back then could think that deeply).
I really recommend FOUNDATION for sci-fi fans, but I will warn you that so much will seem familiar, but he came up with it first. You can see where all of the franchises like STAR WARS, DUNE, etc. came from.
I hope you're having a great day!
