Windlyn has a new homepage! I've redesigned it to be more useful to you. Fun and important information is much easier to find, and the new homepage lets you easily stay up to date on what is going on in Windlyn.
I'll go into detail about the new layout below, so go ahead and open up the new homepageif you want to follow along.
To start us off: there is a new slideshow that highlights a small selection of Windlyn's many features! Did you know we have a pets system? A fishing spot where you can catch an awesome item every day? A game room?! The slideshow will be a little different every time you see it, and we will be updating it all the time so be sure to check it out often!
Moving down the page, there's a section for News (long term announcements). If an event is going on, a post about it will be there so you have easy access to the event information. Unlike the Site Updates section (see below) which shows the newest post, the News section is curated from the News forum to show you the most important post.
On the right is a new Community section. This section displays the number of members we have (we are getting so big!!
) and features our newest user. We wanted to make it easier for everyone to reach out and make our newest friends feel welcome, after all, that's the Windlyn way!Speaking of new, right below the Community section is the Helpful Links section, a list geared to helping you get started on Windlyn. Here you will find links to guides, policies, and other information related to Windlyn. Of course, if you don't see what you are looking for there, you are always welcome to PM one of our wonderful moderators or check out the Help/Support forum.
Back on the left is a totally new thing- a section that shows you the 5 newest items on Windlyn. Whaaat! You heard me! Now, just by visiting the homepage you will know what new items are available to you in the shops. Don't worry about seeing an item in this section and being too slow to get it. When an item is no longer available in any shop on Windlyn, it will not show up in the Newest Items section. And! To streamline your shopping experience, clicking any of the items featured here will take you right to the shop that offers them!
Below that, you'll notice an avatar just hanging out. We wanted to highlight some of our awesome users here on Windlyn. Do you recognize the face of an old friend? See someone you've never met before? We encourage you to use this section to reach out to another user. Maybe you'll make a new BFF, or finally be able to complete your quest to get those highly coveted Commemorative Wings you've been hunting for. Who knows!
On the right we have the Updates section. This section displays the most recent post in the Site Updates forum. This section updates pretty regularly and pertains to things like shop updates, maintenance schedules, new Games, mini-events, tweaks and bug-fixes.
On the bottom left we have the site Poll. Only registered users will be able to see and vote in the poll. You can vote and see results without leaving the homepage, or you can click Join the Discussion to jump in and talk about your choice!
And that brings us to the final section, Guilds! We wanted to highlight our newest Guilds to help them get going. Of course, you can always check out the main guilds page to see guilds you are part of and browse all the many guilds on Windlyn.
